The Monarchs

Today is the 41st Anniversary of the discovery of the Mountain of Butterflies and Google has the coolest 'google doodle" about it.  The butterflies attach themselves to oyamel trees in the Sierra Madre Mountains, in eastern Mexico.
The monarch butterfly is under threat due to climate change and deforestation in the country, where the species migrates to from the the US and Canada in winter.
I LOVE butterflies and have in fact "raised" swallowtails the last two years.  Before that though we have watched monarchs do their thing from some little caterpillars given to us by "the butterfly lady" Mrs Uppdegrove.  It was fascinating.

I am just getting over a case of pneumonia!  It has been awful.  I feel like the last 10 days have been wadded up in kleenex tissue and thrown in the trash!!  Today is the first day I have seen the sun in as many day too!!  That has done a world of good for me!

Here are some late Christmas pictures from 2015!!  New tradition for us was to have Christmas morning downstairs.  Rick fixed up his room and it was really nice and warm...
Our new Christmas Tree ---  I love, love, love it!!

So now let me wish you all a Happy New Year 2016 and I want do overs!!

Love

Bring on 2016

Happy New Year! I got to walk by this beautiful image everyday. It is our new tree as you look at it through the mirror by the door.  It catches my attention every time,  Very hard to photograph though.

Bring it on 2016!  This is a year of big "days" for me.   A 40 year wedding anniversary in February and a big 60th birthday in April.  I am actually looking forward to seeing those days come around.   Not a lot of us can say we have been married and still be best friends after 40 years. Rick is my very best friend. He is very good to me. He may not be a all lovey dovey kind of guy,  never was and never will be. But he shows he cares in many other ways.

Now the 60 thing I did have a problem with at first because that just plain sounded old.   I had issues turning thirty also!  However, I decided I was not going to waste my time worrying about feeling old. I found myself thinking about every little ache and pain like " Oh man, this must be what it is like to be sixty,  whoa is me, poor pitiful me".  Now if I was doing that at 59 what the heck was it going to be like,  what a waste of precious time!  So sixty here I come!

So I bet you are wondering why Tiddlywinks and Doodlebugs?  Well I wanted to start new as I have not kept up with my old blog Raindrops on Roses. Here is the link if you want to ever check back: http://lhedger.blogspot.com   And now there are many by that name and Doodlebug is a name my momma used to call me when I was little. It just evokes a lot of memories, and we tend to reminisce when we get"older". (Wink, wink)

The Tiddlywinks came from the old game where you try and snap the little plastic disc into the cup in the middle of the floor using a bigger disc. Sometimes it went in with the first try, sometimes you were short of that cup, or you over shot. Either way you tried again and again until it went in. That is what my life is.  A game of tiddlywinks, and I am going to keep trying to get those little discs (my goals) make it in that cup and I am going to have fun trying!

Some Tiddlys for 2016 :  Not to worry about things I can not change.

To take better care of this body that God has given me to live in.

~Till next time
